Congratulations! How exciting,  a new chapter with your beautiful JCS Boxer puppy pet is here! Please read carefully, we provide some very useful information and tips so you can be prepared to care for your beautiful, loving and intelligent JCS Boxer puppy. 

Your puppy will be excited and will love all the attention and  you are giving him/her now!

Our puppies are already trained to sleep in their crate alone through the whole night. Early morning, is best to wake up before your puppy does, to take him/her out to go potty very quickly to get him/her used to it his bathroom.

Your new puppy will experience a big change of environment, detachment  from litter, and a new family.
A series of stressful events. It is important to understand this is a normal part of the adjustment process.  Due to this stress, a puppy’s immune system (which is undeveloped yet) goes down very quickly and caution should be taken; because it is more prone to be susceptible to many different things, such as an upset stomach, infections, not eating, parasites, or may cause irregular heart palpitations from too many things going on. 

So be calm and patient with the adjusting process introducing your puppy to new things slowly. 

Potty Training is a Process. Our puppies are trained to go on the grass. 

They are quick learners so be consistent every time for positive results.

Important to Know and be consistent with your feeding schedule. 

Puppies will go to the bathroom  every time they wake up from a nap. So make sure that you immediately take them out to the grass before they roam around the house. Reinforce them when they go out to the bathroom successfully.

Early morning we recommend you waking them up and taking them out first thing, and not the other way around. If they wake up before you and are roaming around sure will have an accident because they have been holding it for so long from the night before.

Before going to bed take them out again. Accidents will happen, be patient and consistent.

We recommend feeding your puppy three times a day and gradually decrease to twice a day according to your schedule (please read label of recommended amount per weight of puppy and divide into the daily feedings)

What your puppy eats is of extreme importance for his/her health and longeavity.

We choose a food with meat (no by products of the meat) with true ingredients and with no fillers. A brand we have truly found to be one of the most clean in this sense is Orijen Puppy food - Grain Free. There is definitely more brands out there, you just have to do your research.

As your puppy grows make sure to adjust feeding to his/her size.

Our puppies 8 weeks plus are already on Victor Hi Pro Plus, do not worry you will receive enough food when you pick up your puppy to do the transition to the food of your choice. 

For us, raw diets are the best, but you must get advice from a professional nutritionist in order to incorporate the right amounts of protein, fats and other nutrients in a balanced way according to your dog's need. 

Limit the amount of snacks or treats for your dog. The more natural the better. We recommend natural treats made from one ingredient only if possible. Please limit the amount of treats in very small amounts. Bones bought on pet stores contain a very toxic wax film on top. You are better off buying a natural marrow bone, which is also beneficial for their teeth and gums.

Please make sure your puppy has available Clean water at all times.

Make sure your puppy is not cold. And while dog sweaters are cute, do not keep them on for too long or they can cause overheating.

We seriously DO NOT recommend that you take your puppy to the park because their immune system is still developing and will be compromised as the dog park is a huddle of all other dogs parasites, viruses, diseases, etc. And your puppy will get sick.

We suggest you wait until after 6 months. This timing ensures they have developed immunity to dangerous diseases like parvovirus.

Before your puppy leaves with you it has been cleared by our vet. You will receive a health certificate with the clearance and details of the first shots/vaccines administered, and clear from any parasites and hookworms, as they have received already their first deworming treatments.

Deworming treatment should consistently continue for your puppy until your puppy is three to four months old We do deworm our own puppies every two weeks until three to four months.

Because  they are still developing their immune system, puppies are susceptible to hookworms, coccidia and other types of parasites.

As your puppy grows older you can add some supplementation. We do supplement our dog’s  food mixing it with a small amount of natural plain yogurt which includes natural  pro-biotics. We include other supplements depending on the season and need of our dogs. These include: Virgin Organic Coconut Oil, Fish Oil, Bee Pollen as a multivitamin, blueberries, and natural supplements for each different individual dog need.

At 8 weeks old, your puppy is already crate trained o sleep by himself/herself in a crate overnight. 

We recommend toys like ropes and toys filled in with ropes, because regular toys have fillings that when the toy is broken, can be ingested harming your puppy intestines and you want to avoid a trip to the  ER.

As a small puppy is developing is still quite delicate. That is why we recommend to use a harness instead of a collar for a young puppy. His/her neck and thyroid will negatively be affected if using a collar at a young age. So a harness with a short (4 feet leash) is recommended.

Heartworm medicine prescibed and recommended for dogs is direct pesticide ingestion inside of your dogs body, which is deadly. Unfortunately, today, it is the normal thing when you visit your vet. 

We are completely against it. This medicine maycauses Neurological Damage to your dog. 

Our personal plan includes doing natural pest control in our property and using natural products to prevent insect bites, fleas and ticks. Please contact us for a list of products you can purchase instead. We also make our own. 

We are required to give your puppy the first set of shots listed on the health certificate that we provide to you. Every county and state has different guidelines for vaccinations, so consult your veterinarian. However, we leave it at your own discretion of what your dog needs according to the environment that the puppy will live in, as many vaccines cause serious and deadly side effects and disease that affect the neurological system, allergies, immune system, may cause cancer, damage the kidneys and liver, cause bone damage, and cause heart conditions, and the list goes on.  So unless it is not necessary we do not use many of the vaccines recommended out there for our own dogs, and so does our vet.

Your puppy will already have his/her Universal Microchip ID inserted. You will need to activate it with the company of your choice. The chip serial no. is in your JCS Boxers Package

Your puppy’s litter has already being registered limited in the AKC. AKC Litter number information is available in your folder package. Use it when your are ready  to register him/her under the his/her new name.

Trupanion Real Puppy Insurance Informational packet is included for your consideration. It is a great choice and we truly recommend it. 

As we mentioned before your puppy comes with a clean Health Certificate from our Veterinarian. And if you are transporting your puppy out of state, we can provide the specific health travel document required by the airlines by requesting it to our Veterinarian. This should be specified a couple of weeks before picking up your puppy.
